Agnes married George Smith of High Borland Farm, Eaglesham (b. Tranmere, Cheshire on 19 October 1879), son of George Smith and Sarah Clark, at Over Enoch Farm, Eaglesham on 26 November 191437<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, 1914 Marriages, 561\/3<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Agnes died at Grove Hospital on 2 November 1968, age 87; the location of Grove Hospital has not been established but the death was registered in Eastwood and Mearns, Renfrewshire. Andrew is at 216 Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow on the 1891 Census and at 35 Rumford Street, Glasgow on the 1901 Census.<\/p>\n

Andrew’s occupation was a Joiner. He emigrated to Canada, departing from Glasgow on the S.S. Columbia<\/em> on 11 March 1905, arriving in New York on 21 March. His final destination is Toronto.<\/p>\n

At some point he returned to Scotland and married Agnes Gilmour (b. Kilfillan, Argyll c.1885)41<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, 1886 Births, 518\/9<\/span>, daughter of Hugh Gilmour and Marion Stewart, at Enoch Farm, Eaglesham on 8 March 191142<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, 1911 Marriages, 561\/2<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Andrew and Agnes returned to Canada, departing from Glasgow on the S.S. Caledonia<\/em> on 18 March 1911 and arriving\u00a0 in New York on 27 March. They were bound for Toronto.<\/p>\n

Andrew and Agnes are in Regal Terrace, Riverside, Calgary, Ontario on the Canadian 1911 Census.<\/p>\n

Agnes and her baby son John were returning to Scotland on the R.M.S. Lusitania<\/em> when it was sunk by a German U-boat on 7 May 1915. Their bodies were not recovered but there is a memorial in Eaglesham Churchyard43<\/a><\/sup>https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/188287878\/agnes-semple<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Andrew returned to Scotland, sailing from New York on the S.S. St Louis<\/em> and arriving in Glasgow on 23 May 1915. His forwarding address is Enoch Farm. According to the manifest he was intending to stay in Scotland.<\/p>\n

Andrew married again, to Helen Paterson Dickie (b. Bridgeton, Glasgow c.1886)44<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, 1886 Births, 644\/1\/1493<\/span>, daughter of Thomas Dickie and Grace Cullen, in Calton, Glasgow in 191845<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, 1918 Marriages, 644\/3\/567<\/span>. Helen was his cousin – her father was Andrew’s mother’s brother.<\/p>\n

Andrew returned to Canada on the S.S. Empress of Britain<\/em> in 1921, and Helen followed shortly thereafter on the S.S Pretorian<\/em>. They made a trip to Scotland in 1926.<\/p>\n

Andrew is at 112 Bowood Avenue, Toronto on the 1940 Canada Voters’ List.<\/p>\n

Andrew died at Wellesley Hospital, Toronto on 21 May 1944, age 61.<\/p>\n

Helen was at 112 Bowood Avenue in 1974.<\/p>\n\n\n
