Alexander Dickie<\/strong> and Marion Barr<\/strong>‘s parents and places and dates of birth are not known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexander and Marion were proclaimed for marriage in the parish of Dreghorn, Ayrshire on 12 January 1753.1<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, Old Parish Records, 1753 Marriages, 589 (Dreghorn), 10\/187<\/span> The Old Parish Records entry indicates that Alexander was ‘in Mauchline’, so it suggests that Marion is from Dreghorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a Marion Barr, daughter of Francis Barr and Isobel Boyd, born in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire on 3 September 1732.2<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, Old Parish Records, 1732 Births, 598 (Kilmaurs), 10\/74<\/span> Kilmaurs and Dreghorn are neighbouring parishes. Francis is the name of possibly their second son, traditionally named after the mother’s father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Francis Dickie<\/strong>, born at Killochhead Farm, Mauchline, Ayrshire on 16 June 17584<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, Old Parish Records, 1758 Births, 604 (Mauchline), 10\/202<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Francis married Margaret Campbell<\/a>. They were proclaimed for marriage in the parish of Mauchline on 28 April 17895<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, Old Parish Records, 1789 Marriages, 604 (Mauchline), 20\/245<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n

James Dickie<\/strong>, place and date of birth unknown<\/p>\n\n\n

James is assumed to be a son of Alexander and Marion, based on his first son being named Alexander, and another son being farmer at Killochhead Farm, where the above Francis Dickie was born. James was also in Killochhead at the time of his marriage.<\/p>\n

James married Margaret Wilson<\/a>. They were proclaimed for marriage in the parish of Mauchline on 20 February 1798. Margaret is from nearby Bargour Farm.6<\/a><\/sup>National Records of Scotland, Old Parish Records, 1798 Marriages, 604 (Mauchline), 20\/273<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n
